Paleokastritsa – when we speak about Corfu, the first three places everybody knows, are Corfu town, Achileon and Paleokastritsa ! Its the most beautiful, colourful, rocky and different place than anything else on this island.
Its original with all the different water colours, cages in the sea rocks, small beaches all around (some reached only by boats or petals), the sea life perfect for divers. And of course we mustn’t forget the Monastry of Theotokos, on the top of Paleokastritsa from the 13. century, the village Lakones, placed 600 m high with the Bella vista view all over the Paleokastritsa, Angelokastro, one of the most important byzantine castles in Greece made in the 12. century, village Makrades known with the home made products, Doukades, village with one of the best typical tavernas on thi island, etc…
Paleokastritsa is a nice touristic place with many tavernas, super markets, bars, restaurants, coffees, but there is not a square or a centre. Everything is all around the main road. The central beach of st. Spyridon is always full of boats, people and life, only early morning or late evening is more romantic. But for those who love the small romantic and quiet beaches, there are so many especially here, that no better place, that to hide yourself in on of them !
