Merchant’s house – staying at this house is a special and very different style of holiday, than you would find anywhere else on Corfu Island. It’s not near to the beach, not in a touristic place with exciting nightlife or near a shops promenade. It is in the oldest village of Corfu, in the middle of nowhere, in a place where the time stood still many years ago, but where history can be found in each stone, path or tree, flowers and wildlife. This place is full of memories, magic and dreams.

A wonderful couple, my friends, Saskia and Mark realised that they couldn’t live without this place (as I did many years ago) and in 2009, in cooperation with the archeological department, they started to restore piece by piece, stone by stone, this amazing house. In 2012 they opened their doors as a luxury B&B, each room is differently designed, with a feeling  of history, comfort and tradition. Well done dear couple, you made a great job ! If you come and spend a relaxing holiday here, you can be sure of a warm welcome by Mark and Saskia. They have lots of knowledge about the village of Old Peritheia, as well as hints and tips for things to do in the area.

Coming to The Merchant’s house, you will have plenty of time to walk, read, think, relax. We do recommend hiring a car so you have the possibility to make trips all around Corfu island or just discover the northern part, where there are many beaches, stony and sandy, but also some rocky ones !

The Merchant’s House has 5 suites, each Suite has its own private entrance, and harmoniously combines the creature comforts of home with the assured feeling of staying in your own spacious suite.
Breakfast is served on the private terrace in the garden and four tavernas are just steps away from your rooms.
